Quarantine

Quarantine is a maritime practice of isolating a ship, its cargo, or crew members from the shore to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Quarantine measures are taken to ensure that no contagious diseases are introduced into a country or region from a foreign vessel. Quarantine can be imposed on a ship if it is suspected of carrying an infectious disease or if it has visited a port where an epidemic is present. During quarantine, the ship is not allowed to dock, and no one is allowed to board or leave the vessel until the quarantine period is over. The quarantine period can vary depending on the type of disease and the incubation period. Quarantine is an essential measure to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and protect public health.
