Towage

Towage is the act of towing a vessel by another vessel. It is a common practice in the maritime industry for various reasons such as assisting a vessel that has lost power, moving a vessel to a different location, or helping a vessel navigate through narrow or difficult waterways. Towage can be performed by specialized tugboats or other vessels that are equipped with towing equipment. The towline used for towage is usually made of synthetic fibers or steel wire and is attached to both vessels. The towing vessel must have sufficient power and maneuverability to safely tow the other vessel. Towage operations require careful planning and coordination to ensure the safety of both vessels and their crews.
