Vapor Control System

A Vapor Control System (VCS) is a set of equipment and procedures designed to prevent the release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the atmosphere during the loading, transportation, and unloading of petroleum products and chemicals. The VCS includes a closed loading system, which connects the ship's cargo tanks to the shore-based loading facility, and a vapor recovery unit, which captures the VOCs that are displaced during the loading process and returns them to the cargo tanks or to shore-based storage tanks. The VCS also includes a monitoring system, which measures the VOC emissions and ensures that they are within the regulatory limits. The VCS is essential for protecting the environment and the health of workers in the maritime industry.
