Composite Material

A composite material is a combination of two or more materials with different physical and chemical properties, which when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual components. In the maritime context, composite materials are used in shipbuilding to create lightweight, strong, and durable structures. These materials are commonly used in the construction of hulls, decks, and superstructures. Composite materials offer several advantages over traditional materials such as steel and aluminum, including corrosion resistance, reduced maintenance, and improved fuel efficiency. However, they also require specialized manufacturing techniques and can be more expensive than traditional materials.
