Tier III Standards

Tier III Standards refer to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations that set limits on the amount of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from marine diesel engines with a power output of over 130 kW. These standards aim to reduce the environmental impact of shipping by reducing harmful emissions. Tier III Standards require a 75% reduction in NOx emissions compared to Tier II Standards, which were introduced in 2011. Compliance with Tier III Standards can be achieved through the use of technologies such as selective catalytic reduction (SCR) or exhaust gas recirculation (EGR).
