Tractor Propulsion
Tractor Propulsion is a type of propulsion system used in ships where the propeller is mounted on a steerable pod that can rotate 360 degrees horizontally and vertically. This system provides better maneuverability and efficiency in comparison to traditional fixed propeller systems. The pod is driven by an electric motor or a hydraulic motor, and the steering is controlled by a joystick or a computer. Tractor Propulsion is commonly used in cruise ships, ferries, and other large vessels that require high maneuverability and low speed operations such as docking and mooring.
