Paravane

A paravane is a device used in the maritime industry to stabilize a ship and reduce its rolling motion. It consists of a torpedo-shaped body with wings that are angled downwards. The paravane is attached to the ship by a cable and is towed through the water. As the ship moves forward, the wings of the paravane create a lift force that pulls the cable and causes the paravane to move away from the ship. This creates a lateral force that counteracts the rolling motion of the ship. Paravanes are commonly used on fishing vessels and other small boats to improve stability and reduce the risk of capsizing.
