Marine Gas Oil

Marine Gas Oil (MGO) is a type of fuel oil and is a medium distillate used in marine applications. It is produced from crude oil through a refining process known as distillation. MGO is lighter and cleaner than heavy fuel oil (HFO), which is commonly used in older ships. The use of MGO in marine engines results in lower emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter, which are harmful to the environment and human health. However, MGO is more expensive than HFO, which has led to the development of hybrid fuels that combine the environmental benefits of MGO with the cost-effectiveness of HFO. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has set strict regulations on the sulfur content of marine fuels, which has increased the demand for MGO. It is also used in emergency generators and lifeboat engines on board ships.
